ANDREAS & THE WOLF
We are exponents of electronic synthpop; influenced by, but with unique twists on a combination of – The sumptuousities & glam of classic English Hammer movies & The Human league’s dark melancholic gallows humour, as if cast into a Sapphire and Steel universe of endless possibility and danger.
We play pared-down pagan beats with a solemn promise of NO drum solos, mixed with analogue 80s synths with NO presets, reggae connotations, Eno sound splurge, semi-baritone space disco. We are Exponents of Modern Retro Futuristist POP. Dance music set to words. We are annoyed by the restriction death may impose on our creative ambitions.
We are distopiarna – Stories within stories with a throbbing pop heartbeat, electronic to the core, but still caught plundering such diversities as goth, disco and post punk. Lyrical reality cloaked in daggers.
We are the modern horror of existence without a Poe face, We are space invaders. We are a beautiful wolferine coagulation of juxtaposition – millennial twisters with cheeky tongues, come fall helpless into our Labyrinth, we dare thee!
Apparently we are…
“The Freshest sound this side of Powder Ridge, even John Lydon would like it”
– Pete Jones (Bass) – PIL, Dept S, Brian Brain
We’ve just supported Red Snapper on their UK Tour.
Our songs… Can be dark, but they can also be ‘Don’t you want me’ pop too.
Our current playlist would feature: Hula, Fritz Catlin, Wolfgang Flur, Pete Shelley, Cabaret Voltaire, Boney M, KLF, Prince, Primal Scream, Eno, Scritti, Soft Cell, Human League, Sparks, Joyce Simms, Nitzer Ebb, Waeve, Trentmoller, Lone Lady, Wooze, Siouxsie, Sheffield Tape Archive (bandcamp), Erotic Secrets of Pompeii
So why do people look for a category to put us in? If the music and emotion generated does it for your trousers?!… Sparks have been doing this for 50 years!
